Self Care Days Rules

Over the past few days I’ve been down with a bit of a stomach bug.  It’s been going around and others in our house have already had it so I wasn’t that surprised to wake up with that knot in my belly.  The first thing I did of course was double up on my probiotic.   After ensuring that was going to stay down I made sure to get the rest of my vitality kit into me as well.  Ensuring that my body got the very best in certified organic goodness as it did it’s healing work.

Mondays are typically my busiest days.  Instead of heading out to teach yoga I stayed home and allowed my body the time and space it needed to heal.  I slept, I read and I did a little bit of art at the moments when I had a burst of energy.  By the time the evening came around I could feel it was yoga time.  So i went into my healing space and set up a little bit of restorative yoga.  Opening up to allowing additional healing to come in.

Having the support of the crystals, the essential oil in the diffuser, and the salt lamp made the perfect combination to the gentle postures of restorative yoga.

My health has been important to me for a long time.  Back in my 20’s I was taking wheat grass shots on a regular basis as well as participating in various alternative health modalities for preventative health care,  I started with shiatsu, massage and yoga.  As I moved into my 30’s, the energy work started to becomes more important.  I began to get Reiki on a regular basis and started to work with crystals.

These days I go see an Osteo regularly for body work, a shiatsu therapist at least once a month, the three super foods are a part of my daily ritual and of course I self treat with reiki and crystals as needed.  Of course yoga is also part of my daily routine.

What kinds of things do you do for your self care?  When you have an unexpected sick day but you aren’t so sick you need to sleep all day – what sorts of things do you do to support your self care?  I’d love to hear how you take care of yourself.
