Essential Oils for Skincare

Continuing on with this month’s Skincare theme – I thought we’d talk a little bit  about essential oils that are used in the MiEssence Skincare line.  Essential oils have so many uses.  MiEssence not only uses pure grade therapeutic oils that are certified organic but often they use the CO2 (carbon dioxide extraction process) version of the oils which are actually 45 times more concentrated that the herbal infused oils.

Calendula CO2

  • superb anti-inflammatory and healing properties
  • excellent for skin inflammation (eczema, allergic dermatitis, minor wounds, burns, sunburns, and bruising)

Carrot CO2

  • concentrated root extract rich in natural beta carotene(Vitamin A) and lycopenes
  • excellent “free radical” scavenging abilities
  • anti-inflammatory and healing especially helpful for inflamed skin conditions
  • also healing for dry/mature and often used hair care products especially for dry hair and scalp

German Chamomile CO2

  • 10 times stronger than steam distilled oil
  •  excellent healing anti-inflammatory and anti-allergen
  • useful for skin complaints such as eczema, inflamed skin conditions, minor wounds, burns, bruises, and contusions
  • very beneficial during moon times – can be applied topically to help with cramping

Roman Chamomile

  • steam distilled
  • soothing effects on sensitive irritated skin
  • healing for eczema and dermatitis
  • supreme calming oil
  • helps calm irritability, stress, insomnia, tension, headaches and the like
  • considered by some to be the rescue remedy oil

Helichrysum – this oil is not used in any of the skin care lines but instead is the main ingredient in the Ambrosia Essence

  • also know as Everlasting or Immortelle (because the flowers from this plant never die)
  • wound healing, scar reducing, anti-coagulant benefits (great for sprains and bruises) (French Dr’s have long been using this as part of their common practice)
  • anti-inflammatory oil useful for muscular pain
  • gives arthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis relief
  • good for minor skin disorders – wounds, small scars, dermatitis and others

Lavender

  • useful for a whole host of applications (sometimes referred to as medicine chest of essential oils)
  • anti-inflammatory
  • healing relief for eczema and psoriasis
  • gentle anti-infectious essence
  • can be used neat for minor skin infections

Neroli

  • tranquil and uplifting
  • true bitter orange flower oil
  • very expensive (due to how many orange flowers are needed to create the oil)
  • potent on the energetic sphere
  • often indicated for unrest, anxiety, sleeplessness, etc.
  • action extends to digestive system
  • great in regenerative skincare

Rose

  • expensive but priceless in it’s actions
  • extensively used in Islamic and European herbal medicines through the centuries
  • strong cooling and binding essence
  • energetically superb to strengthen the heart and spirit for times of grief or disappointment
  •  rose oil hardens at 16 degrees
  • heals on all levels

Sandalwood

  • huge anti-inflammatory qualities
  • cystitis, gentio urinary tract issues

Tea Tree

  • strong anti-infectious
  • great first aid essential oil
  • helps with fungal, bacterial, and viral infections
  • great for wounds or burns
